G-CAP Visited Pikkewyntjies

Some weeks ago, The Great Cape Ambassadors Program, known as G-CAP visited Pikkewyntjies.

This programme began in 2013 implemented by Cape Town’s Musical Icon, DJ Ready on the back of his experience of 27 years spent in some of our poorest areas, empowering youth and communities.

Shihaam of Domingo Effects is a donor and friend of Pikkewyntjies Preschool and she told G-CAP about us with the result they arrived with a huge donation of food, toys and blankets. The children so much enjoyed their visit and the generosity of their gift is a tremendous help to our Management Team, especially with regard to the feeding scheme.

The day starts early with breakfast before school and the children know they can bring their porridge bowls back for more if they are still hungry as many of them, especially since lockdown have not had supper the night before. Some of the children live too far from the school to walk there so every morning Zaan fetches them in the school bus in good time and it’s a very happy time of day when the bus arrives at the school gate and friends meet up again ready to enjoy sitting down together to eat. After that with full tummies and no troubles, the day begins.
