School Holiday Break
We wish the whole of the PHES family a well-deserved break.
It’s not possible to borrow the church hall while covid still threatens the health of the community but everyone wanted the children to have some sort of end-of-year concert, especially as covid made it unsafe last year. They enjoy it so much.
"‘n Boer maak altyd ‘n plan" so it was held in the playground with a stage built over the sandpit and the audience of parents were accommodated on the children’s small chairs.
The stage being so small it was decided groups would perform a variety of dances. The choreography did the teachers proud and the dancers put on a splendid show.
After the concert, came the presentation of prizes to the three children and their parents who had raised the most money for the school during the year. It’s known as the Debutante Programme and involves parents and their children making an effort to obtain contributions from family and friends for a gift for the school. This is our opportunity to thank them, especially those whose efforts were extraordinary.
The final item on the programme was the presentation of certificates to every Pikkewyntjie and the graduation ceremony. A comparatively small number of children graduated this year on account of two years of unsettling covid - related disruptions. As always they take with them the love and good wishes of everyone associated with Pikkewyntjies, especially Zaan and the staff who nurtured and prepared them to love school and prosper.
