Round 2 Winner of our Photography Competition

The winner for Round 2 of our Photo Competition has been chosen! Thinus van Staden took this amazing shot of an Eland Bull earlier this year.

Here’s what he had to say:

“In January 2022, just after new year, we had the privilege of visiting De Hoop Nature Reserve for the first time. We were overwhelmed with the beautiful landscapes, and the abundance of animal and bird life. On our first afternoon we saw a large herd of eland, but they were far away. Then, the following morning, the herd was closer to the road. This amazingly beautiful bull was parading amongst the ladies, which made it really difficult to get a photo of it alone. But, after about 45 minutes of trying and waiting, he turned around in a spot that gave me this view.”

Choosing between the many wonderful images we received was challenging but the Eland Bull stood out from the start. One of the judges, Anton Crone, said “I like the angle and long lens effect on the eland giving it a powerful feel.”

The worthy winner takes home a voucher for a 2 night stay for 4 guests in a self-catering cottage and will be put in the hat for the grand prize which will be announced in December. The next and last round of the Photo Competition starts on 1 September 2022.
