Anna's Pies

Anna Smal and her team offer a selection of hearty home made pies, quiches and cakes served to you fresh from the oven. Tannie Anna’s love and friendliness can be tasted in every mouthful of her delicious sweet and savoury treats which are baked daily on the premises of her shop in the main road of Gansbaai. A selection of biscuits, rusks and preserves made by Anna’s friends are also available. Pop in and experience the small town hospitality that has made Gansbaai the topic of many foot-tapping songs. ”Wie maak vir Gansbaai lekker?” Well, Anna does of course!

Tannie Anna is a self-taught baker who mixed her first cake batter with a vintage egg-beater and baked the cake in an old fashioned gas oven. After deciding that there would be no halfway mark when it came to the quality of her baked products she went on to win the VLV floating trophy for the best cake, twice. The winning cakes, a soft, white, melt-in-the-mouth vanilla cream cake as well Anna’s wholesome and healthy carrot cake are still top sellers in the cosy shop that houses Anna’s Pies in the Main Road of Gansbaai.

The shop is relaxed with a few tables and chairs for those wanting to sit down and spend a while with Anna and her friendly staff. Sip on a soft drink, fruit juice, tea or coffee while you sample her freshly baked products.

Cakes, Tarts and Cupcakes

Proper farm style cakes and cupcakes made with free range eggs topped with soft butter icing. Tannie Anna uses her grandmother’s recipe to bake the best traditional milk tarts in the southern hemisphere. Big square colourful childrens cakes are also available on order, as are a range of custom baked goods at your request.
