Moral of this story: Nobody likes their transactions to be delayed when they sell a property. So if you lost your Title Deed, apply to have it replaced now before you sell your property. Now read on and take heart!
Have you lost your property's title deed? The procedure was simple, although, at a charge, you could simply apply via an attorneys firm to replace it. However, the regulations changed. To succeed with such an application, a notary now has to certify the affidavit which supports the application, and the application must now be advertised in the Government Gazette. The application must also lie open for inspection at the Deeds office for 2 weeks before we may proceed. This new regulation is effective as from 25 February 2019. The Amendment of the rules introduces further expenses. Better you take proper care of a Title Deed as you may have to part with a handsome expense if you lose it!
