INGREDIENTS
- 200g dark chocolate
- 170g unsalted butter
- 120g castor sugar
- 2 eggs, whisked
- 60g cake flour
- 170g unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 Snickers or Reese chocolate bar
- A handful of walnuts, roughly chopped
METHOD
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Line a baking tin with baking paper.
- Put a saucepan, half-filled with water on the stove and bring it up to the boil, then turn down the heat to let it simmer.
- Break the chocolate into blocks and place it in a glass bowl.
- Place the bowl over the simmering water and let it melt slowly, stirring often.
- Once the chocolate has melted, stir in the butter and sugar.
- When the butter has melted and the sugar’s dissolved into the chocolate. Once combined, remove the bowl from the heat and leave to cool slightly.
- Next, mix the whisked egg into the chocolate mixture.
- In a separate bowl, sieve together the flour and baking powder.
- Gently fold the flour mixture into the chocolate. Chop up the Snickers or Reese chocolate bar, and then stir it into the brownie mixture.
- Stir through the chopped walnuts and pour the brownie mixture into the baking tin.
- Pop the tin into the oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes. It’s ready to come out of the oven when it’s almost firm.
- Leave to cool in the tin, then turn it out onto a wire rack.
- Cut into blocks and serve with a scattering of your favourite berries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream or cream.
