Youth Nature Sessions
Fifteen youngsters from Eluxolweni, Pearly Beach, recently spent a fun holiday afternoon creating owls from homemade playdough. The Pearly Beach Conservancy hosted the afternoon where children were encouraged to learn about their natural environment, in this case owls, and explore their creative potential.
Several children had attended a previous event where they learned to plant a spekboom cutting. They bought along their plant to show how it had thrived. At the end of the meeting, all the children received a clear plastic bag in which to collect recyclable rubbish until the next Recycle Swop Shop session. On this date, the children will exchange their full bags for tokens with which they will be able to “buy” stationery and toiletry supplies at the Pearly Beach Conservancy’s Swop Shop.
