It was a fantastic day in the development of the village garden in Pearly Beach, when the Municipality delivered over 200 new plants to the site.
There to greet them were members of the village Ratepayers’ Association and the village Conservancy. These volunteers, along with help from members of the “Working for the Coast” project, set about the task of digging holes and planting trees, shrubs and other plants.
To give the plants the best chance of survival, they were given a good mixture of compost and bonemeal, followed by plenty of water, to kickstart their growth.
All the plants had been selected by the Conservancy as ones that would be found in the village naturally, and would fit in with their ethos of creating an indigenous garden.
