Otto Duennebacke and Bella Ackerman: Sundowner in the Angolan bush

Two pensioners from Pearly Beach, combined age of 148 years, explored Angola on their own during September/October 2013. Otto Duennebacke and Bella Ackerman drove ±10,000km within a period of 5 weeks. We made our way north, into Namibia at Vioolsdrif, and onward via Keetmanshoop, Windhoek, Outjo, Kamanjab to Ruacana. We drove up to the top of the escarpment which overlooks Lubango, where the statue of Christ is positioned. Then we drove to the amazing Leba Pass and on our way back we visited the Boers' Cemetery with some 20 barrel-shaped graves. Then followed several beautiful en interesting scenes, towns and villages throughout Angola.

Another point of interest was the coastal city of Lobito, where you come to a rather unusual sight: Every thing is yellow! The soil as well as the small houses. Then followed the City of Benguela. After wonderful experiences, towns and villages, we said farewell and drove back home via Namibia. Summery: Angola is a very beautiful country, the people are friendly. We felt quite safe camping in the bush. New roads are being built and once the last gaps are closed, one can travel in large parts of Angola with a normal car.
