The 24 Hour Football Tournament has come to an end, but what an event it was!
From midday Friday the 10th of February to midday on Saturday the 11th of February family, friends and crowds gathered at the Masakhane football field supporting and playing in 24 hours of non-stop football. Teams as far afield, as Mount Pleasant and Hermanus, took part and teams from the under 11's through to adult teams, played into the early hours of the morning through to midday the following day!
The 24Hour Football fundraiser was the brainchild of two Dutch interns at the Grootbos Foundation, Ruud and Glenn, who are passionate about making a positive impact on the community. Their dedication and determination is a true inspiration to what can be achieved.
The spirit at this community event was warm and supportive and everyone young and old supported, well into the night.
Crowds of family and passers-by all came to cheer and offer loud encouragement to the players.
So far a phenomenal R30 000 was raised towards a vehicle that will help Football Foundation kids get to their matches. A special thanks to all the sleep deprived supporters and Mr and Mrs Balles who donated soccer balls and bibs for the event! Weer eens “Baie Dankie - Thank you - Enkosi!” for all the support!
