Goedvertrou Guest Farm is situated in Papiesvlei which borders on the Salmonsdam Nature Reserve. The Traveller’s Cottage is a self-catering cottage set on a working dairy and fynbos farm just off the Avoka Road that winds its way through the mountainous area between Stanford and Gansbaai. Enjoy scenic views of the surrounding farmlands as you unwind and breathe the sweetest air our planet has to offer. This spacious cottage sleeps six (with an additional two on request) and is perfect for families and friends wanting to experience the tranquillity of farm life.

About

Goedvertrou is a working dairy and fynbos farm. The farm has been in the De Villiers family for over five generations and it is as if time has stood still in this peaceful part of the world. Maryke de Villiers grew up on a farm in Ceres and has farm life running through her veins. She has always wanted to share this wholesome lifestyle with others who were not as fortunate to enjoy country living while growing up and prepared for this venture by studying guest house management.

The Cottage

The spacious Cape Dutch style, self-catering cottage is set in the heart of the farm lands on a gentle slope, with views of the rugged mountains and colourful patchwork-like fields belonging to the neighbouring farms. The sound of birdsong and of the breeze gently whispering through the trees surrounding the cottage is the perfect accompaniment to the sweet smell of thatch and 100 percent pure farm air. If you want peace and quiet then this is the perfect getaway haven for you.

The double storey cottage is spacious and can accommodate six people plus an extra two on request. Goedvertrou is child friendly and there is a rolling patch of soft green lawn for them to play on. The cottage has a cot and a high-chair for those guests with babies.

Every effort has been made to make this cottage and holiday experience as user friendly as possible and Maryke will even do a pre-shop for your groceries on request.

The cottage has a large lounge and dining area with Smart TV and free WiFi. The kitchen and open plan scullery is spacious with a stove, dishwasher, fridge, filter coffee machine and a toaster.

Room 1

The room has a king-sized bed which can be separated to make two singles and has its own dressing room. There is a separate bathroom with a shower, twin basins and toilet.

Room 2

The room has a double bed with an open-plan en-suite shower, basin and toilet.

Room 3

The upstairs loft area has a separate room with two single beds which can be pushed together to make a king.
There is a toilet and basin in the room. There is a double sleeper couch in the loft’s spacious living area.

Activities

Visit the working dairy so you get to see how the milking and feeding takes place. This visit must be pre-booked and takes place with the farmer while he does his rounds. Be prepared to be ready for action at the crack of dawn.
Enjoy a refreshing swim in the farm dam and experience the fun of farm living. Pack a picnic and make a day of it while the kids play on the jungle gym, swings and slides.
Go for a ride, hike or run on the Klipspringer MTB Trail which crosses through the farm.
Indulge in a wine tasting at Lomond Wine Estate.

Rates

R1, 925 for six guests.

The sleeper couch can sleep two and there is a charge of an extra R150 per person. There is no charge for an extra two children under the age of four.

Cancellation Policy

50% deposit of total booking required upon booking.
50% of your deposit is refundable if you cancel three months or more before your check in date.
25% of your deposit is refundable if you cancel between one and three months before your check in date.
0% of your deposit is refundable if you cancel less than one month before your check in date.
