Riaan Franken and his partner Adam Botha are best known for their much celebrated, Blue Goose restaurant in Gansbaai. 

When one of Gansbaai’s beloved matriarchs, long-time restauranteur Rosemary Truter decided to retire after many years of running another top Gansbaai restaurant, Rosemary’s Country Kitchen & Deli, the couple saw the opportunity for another venture.

After careful consideration and intensive meetings with Rosemary about how she would like her legacy continued, total refurbishment of the interior and some delicious twists to the already superb menu, Rosemary’s Country Kitchen & Deli opened to rave reviews in February 2022.

Rosemary is still part of the country kitchen experience and you can find her enjoying breakfast in the restaurant each morning, as well as pottering about in the magnificent garden on sunny days.

“A Sunday lunch on a day trip out, and what a find in this small fishing town. Starters of escargot (the best tasted in a long time) and Patagonian calamari tubes set the lunch for the main course of smoked trout with tagliatelle and oxtail with mash and a side of veg all cooked to perfection. We were informed that a reduction of 5L of red wine was used for the magnificent oxtail sauce! We finished off with the best crème brulée. Highly recommended!”  OldButNew
