The boneshaker was the first commercially successful bicycle and the beginning of the evolution of the modern bike. Boneshakers were the first bicycles to reach South Africa, arriving in Cape Town in the early 1860s. The Trail’s End Bicycle Museum would not be complete without a Boneshaker and after failing to get our hands on one of the last remaining ones in South Africa, we decided to make an exact replica instead.
