Have I Lost All My Marbles?
PIVOT the way we see our employees
I know you are super busy, I just need 5 minutes of your time.
I have been thinking a lot lately about the effect of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and how to prepare such a diverse workforce to be ready. I have heard the other day about a former war veteran that had to compete with a robot in the work environment and he said he has not been as tired in his life. Yes, I know, employers hate the term lunchtime and teatime and robots don’t need that. It may sound far fetched but the world of work is definitely changing, it is no longer a matter of maybe. We are in it!
When looking at what Covid has done in the workplace, we can be sure to say that it sped up the Fourth Industrial Revolution. You can ask yourself: "To what degree does your organisation consider itself able to influence becoming an agent of change for a level and fair marketplace?"
There is definitely an expectation where we will see a trend toward contractual/temporary employees rather than full time workers. We have already seen a lot of this since the beginning of lockdown.
POLL:
• We are doing everything we can to create a workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution
• We are not focused enough on creating a workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution
Yes, you may think I am crazy, but hear me out.
The other day I was chatting to my friend Megan Burgess Hudson, Niche Specialist and Marketing Coach, and what came out is the use of virtual reality and that maybe in future the data that we get from our smart watches can be used to optimise the performance of your employee or contractor! Stress levels and quality of sleep have a direct effect on productivity. Crazy or not? Do you think it can work or will it be unethical? With the 5th Industrial revolution we must be prepared to make AI our friend.
Let me know your thoughts.
