We hope all our customers are doing everything to stay safe!
We aim to be (very cautiously) operating for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic so if you are self-isolating, or just staying at home to be safe, let us deliver your wine to you. We are offering free delivery within Hermanus, and, for orders over R1200, free delivery to major centres within South Africa.
Don't forget that we are open every day and will remain open for business until further notice, but as soon as anything changes we will send out an update.
Please contact us if you need any wine.
Please note that we will not be presenting any in-store tastings until there is an all-clear from the Department of Health.
The name 'Nativo' that is used for the Hughes Family range encompasses allusions to Billy’s native origins, his progress to becoming a naturalised South African and his desire to produce a wine reflective of its origins infused with site-specific characteristics. After settling in South Africa in 1990, Argentinian-born Billy Hughes was inspired to start his own wine venture in the Cape and in 2000 he and his late wife Penny bought an old wheat farm in Malmesbury.
Nativo White Blend 2019 (77% Viognier, 9% Chenin Blanc, 8% Roussanne, 6% Grenache Blanc).
A naturally made Swartland white blend with minimum intervention. Generous aromas of white peach, hints of ripe pineapple, hay, and lime which follows on the palate with a softly lingering mineral finish.
Nativo Red Blend 2015 (54% Shiraz, 18% Mourvedre, 16% Grenache , 6% Pinotage, 6% Tempranillo).
A natural approach to viticulture and red soils bring forth aromas of dark red berries and spice complemented by distinctive mineral overtones. A warm mouth feel and a gentle finish on soft, silky tannins.
Amarillo 2018 (Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne).
A natural “orange” wine made by leaving the juice on extended skin contact, allowing oxidation, and using minimal additives. This produces a white wine with a dark yellow or orange colour, intense and bold flavours, and a little something different.
Granacha 2018 (100% Grenache Noir).
A feminine, organic red wine from the Swartland with aromas of red berries, strawberries and raspberries, with a subtle minerality finished off with gentle tannins and a note of white pepper.

Have you ever heard about a great wine but could never find a bottle for yourself (to share with friends, of course)? Well, the team at Wine & Company do all the hard work for you! We visit wine farms and attend tastings to find, taste, and then stock wine from the smaller Estates and independent winemakers who buy grapes and produce outstanding wine under their own labels – much the same as the French negociants have been doing for centuries. Given that these winemakers make wine in such small quantities, sometimes just a single barrel, their wine will never be found on the shelves of the major retailers, but only in specialist shops like Wine & Company on High Street, Hermanus.
In addition to the great selection of well-known wines and MCC's, we also stock local craft gin and beer, French Champagne, La Trappe Trappist Ales as well as whisky and other spirits. Wine & Company (established in 1998 by Bartho Eksteen) has a well-earned reputation for stocking hard-to-find small-batch wines and we strive to continue this great tradition. If you purchase a bottle of wine from us and it is faulty or you are not satisfied with the quality, we will gladly replace the bottle and return the faulty wine to the winemaker.
Feel free to contact Wine & Company if you need a particular wine and we will do our best to source it for you. We are also able to ship wine locally and to most countries so do ask about international shipping.
