World Hepatitis Day 2021

Viral hepatitis - a group of infectious diseases known as hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D, and hepatitis E - affects millions of people worldwide, causing both acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) liver disease.  

Hepatitis viruses A, B, C, D and E can cause acute and chronic infection and inflammation of the liver leading to cirrhosis and liver cancer. These viruses constitute a major global health risk.

This year’s theme is “Hepatitis Can’t Wait”. With a person dying every 30 seconds from a hepatitis related illness - even in the current COVID-19 crisis - we can’t wait to act on viral hepatitis.
