Just a little bit of silliness really! Byrdon Havercroft (good looking cook!) and Innes (rude wife!)have delighted guests since 2002 in this country kitchen and larder situated 200m outside the village of Stanford on the R43. Although they take the food very seriously, from devilled kidneys and soufflees to ballotine of quail, kudu sirloin with herbed hollandaise, and slow roast pork belly, the atmosphere is one of humour and wit. Havercroft's overlooks the Klein River with views of the mountains, vineyards and equine farm. Brydon has a stall at the Stanford saturday market when he is able, selling such delights as cream horns, scotch eggs, chicken pies and 'many other incredibly slimming' products as Innes describes them! 'One should never let vanity overrule one's appetite' is the order of the day at this truly bucolic environment.
