A Lion's nose is absolutely incredible - take a close look at Neptunes' nose...

It is held open by the skull bones and cartilage divided into two quadrants, right and left. As the nose breathes in oxygen, ciliated mucus keeps dust, pollen, bacteria and small insects from entering the throat and lungs. The mucus also serves to warm the air as it enters the body to avoid damage to lung tissue caused by air that is too cold.

You can also tell the age of a lion by the colour of its nose. When lions are born and young their noses are pink, as they grow up they get black spots on their noses and eventually it completely turns black.

We love Neptunes' nose here!
