The Manor House

(sleeps 11)

The original old homestead farmhouse at Stanford Hills Accommodation at Stanford Hills Estate has stood the test of time. Steeped in a rich history that spans over 160 years, the house is believed to have been built by the founder of Stanford, Philippus de Bruyn, shortly after he bought the farm in 1855. It went on to become a school for girls in the 1890’s. Over the years Stanford Hills Estate often changed hands until it was purchased by Jami and Peter Kastner in 2005. 

The sprawling, five-bedroom Manor House has a spacious outdoor entertainment area with a large private swimming pool, braai area and a pétanque court.

A large fully-fitted farmhouse kitchen has a fully-equipped scullery with ample fridge and freezer space to stock all your supplies for an extended stay. 

The dining area has a large wooden table perfect for celebration dinners.

There are French doors that lead to a patio that divides the two main living areas of the main house. The large lounge is comfortably furnished and has an authentic manor house feel with its oversized leather couches, a library of books and indoor fireplace.

The Manor House has a total of five bedrooms, two of which are located in the east wing, and two in the west wing. There is an additional room with a private entrance next to the swimming pool. 

The upstairs bedroom in the east wing has a loft-like feel and the small balcony offers guests a magnificent view over the farm dam and the Stanford Valley that surrounds it. This room has a Queen-size bed.

The second bedroom in the east wing is accessible from a private entrance as well as from inside the house. The room has two single beds that can be moved together to form a King-sized bed.

These two bedrooms share a spacious guest bathroom that has a bath, shower, double basin, bidet and toilet.

The main bedroom in the west wing has a Queen-size bed and the ensuite bathroom has a bath, shower, double basin, bidet and toilet. 

The second bedroom in the west wing has a double bunk and a single bed and shares the main bedroom’s bathroom.

There is a bedroom with a private entrance next to the swimming pool. It has a Queen-size bed and a bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet.

Rates and Cancellation Policy:

• Expect to pay from R3,500 upwards (depending on the time of year and the length of your stay).
• Bookings over long weekends and school holidays must be for a minimum of at least two nights. Single night stays over weekends will be subject to a 50% surcharge of the cost of one night’s accommodation.
• Rates are subject to change without prior notification and are inclusive of VAT @15%.
• Cancellation policy is available on request.

Sylvia Cottage

(sleeps four)

Sylvia Cottage is a restored farm labourer’s cottage from the original Stanford Hills Estate.   

The open-plan living area has French doors that open out onto a pétanque court. There is a fully-equipped kitchenette and a cosy lounge with an indoor fireplace.

The first bedroom has a double bed and French doors that open out to the pétanque court. 

The second bedroom has two single beds. 

The two bedrooms share a bathroom that has a shower, basin, shower and toilet.

• Firewood (basic supply with more available for sale)

Stanford Hills offers their guests generous additional services that include:

• Driver (prior arrangement)
• Child care (prior arrangement)
• The Tasting Room Restaurant (seven days a week from 8:00 until 17:00 open for breakfast, lunch and wine tasting)
• Picnic baskets, welcome platters and drinks (prior arrangement)

Rates:

• Expect to pay between R900 upward, depending on the time of year and length of your stay.
• Please note that bookings over long weekends and school holidays must be for a minimum of at least two nights. Single night stays over weekends will be subject to a 50% surcharge of the cost of one nights’ accommodation.

Brunia Cottage

(sleeps four)

AfriCamps

(sleeps five per tent)

AfriCamps is all about boutique glamping at the most beautiful working farms, estates, and reserves in South Africa. Stanford Hills Estate is proud to be the site for eight of these custom-designed tents.

The two-bedroom tents each have a fully-fitted kitchen and lounge that is furnished with everything you will need for your comfortable self-catering stay in the Stanford Valley.

The bedrooms each have an extra-length Queen-size bed and one double bunk. The bedrooms share a bathroom that has a shower, basin and toilet.

The Tasting Room

Although Stanford Hills Accommodation is self-catering, The Tasting Room at Stanford Hills Estate is a laid-back restaurant perfect for those times you don’t feel like cooking. Embraced by the Klein River Mountains and bountiful vineyards on one side, and a tranquil farm dam on the other, The Tasting Room allows you to be at one with nature and with yourself, while you enjoy wholesome food, celebrated wines and great company. 

The Picnic Shed

The Picnic Shed is a seasonal hub at Stanford Hills Estate you may need during your stay at Stanford Hills Accommodation such as:

The Tasting Room and Picnic Shed is child and pet friendly and has a sandpit, trampoline, jungle gym and small boats that can be used to paddle around the dam. For more information, read here.
