Antiques and Collectables
The New Junk Shop is famous internationally and has been in business for 21 years and still going strong!...
The New Junk Shop’s Erwin Esterhuizen is a legend in the used goods and collectables trade.
A visit to Erwin’s delightful emporium in Stanford is as much about extracting a twinkling smile out of this pleasingly eccentric gentleman, as discovering the treasure itself.
A deep passion for all things interesting, rare and collectable has ensured that Erwin has spent most of his life dealing in other people's things. He is proud to say that he can recite from heart, the history behind every single one of his precious items in his store. His first shop was in Diep River in the Southern Suburbs and was aptly named ‘Yesterday's Bygones and Junk Store’.
What followed was years of buying, selling and trading in other peoples pre-loved or unwanted collectables. He gained notoriety with ‘Jintys Junk Shop’ in Long Street, Cape Town. The legendary shop was undoubtedly an institution in the antique and collectable world and, to this day, the former Mother City landmark is still spoken about with gusto by those who shopped there.
Erwin continues to deliver the same eclectic trove of treasures to entry-level treasure hunters, serious collectors and fellow antique dealers who find themselves in The New Junk Shop.
The New Junk Shop in Stanford is stocked to the brim with a little bit of everything for everyone and you can expect to find amongst other things:
