What is Carbonic Maceration?
If you are familiar with Winemaker Hannes Meyer’s signature range known as Rockpool, you’ve likely...
Legend has it that the mountains on the Lomond Wine Estate were named Ben Lomond and Ben Nevis by Scottish survivors of the HMS Birkenhead which sank off Danger Point on the 26th of February 1852.
Lomond is situated in the Uilenkraals River valley about eight kilometres from Gansbaai. The property forms part of the Cape Agulhas Wine Route and the vineyards thrive in the maritime climate. Cool sea breezes ensure that the vineyards are kept at a moderate temperature which results in grapes ripening a little later than usual and are bursting with flavour.
This unique blend of geography, geology and climate has resulted in a terrior that is perfect for the production of Lomond’s world-class wines.
The Tasting Room@Lomond overlooks the scenic Lomond Dam and provides guests with panoramic views of the Lomond Wine Estate and the surrounding countryside.
Melissa invites you to join her and the Lomond team for a lazy day of delicious Lomond wines and mouth-watering ploughman's platters. There is a choice of indoor and outdoor seating.

“A beautiful setting... the tasting room at Lomond overlooks a dam flanked by vineyards. Lunch was a colourful, artisanal platter made from local produce which was well priced and more than enough for four of us. A real treat was the wine and sweet pairing which made for both a talking point and a desert... a lovely way to sample the wines creatively and at leisure. A wonderful day in a relaxing, informal setting which comes highly recommended.” Heather, Tripadvisor
“Unique wines....great service....beautiful view. We left with two cases of wine and will definitely be back for more!” Chireze Louw, Facebook
“With nothing planned on a beautiful sunny day, we decided to visit Lomond for a quick wine tasting this past Saturday afternoon. On arrival the friendly hostess, Melissa, welcomed us. We were a family that included a three-year-old girl. Without even asking, Melissa quickly brought a big box of blocks to entertain the small guest, while the rest of us enjoyed some top quality wines in a tasting that included five wines. The view, I can't even begin to describe it so you will have to see it to believe it. I will definitely recommend a visit to Lomond.” Marzanne, Tripadvisor
“What a great Saturday. An unexpected Saturday outing turned out to be the best wine tasting experience we have ever had. Unique wine, great wine hostess, lots of laughter and beautiful views! We will definitely be back! Thanks, Lomond.” Chireze, Tripadvisor
“A beautiful setting which overlooks a dam, we visited Lomond on cold afternoon and sat down with the family and enjoyed a few glasses of wine in front of the fire while playing Jenga. We ended up having such a lovely afternoon and stayed well past closing time and the host was gracious enough to accommodate us. Great service and great value!” Sbudram, Tripadvisor
